Did you know?!
When a bird takes a bite of food it first goes into a pouch that moistens the food this
pouch is called a crop.  The moisture that the crop adds is similar to our saliva.  witch helps the
food moistens so it passes through to the stomach easier.
After leaving the crop the food then passes to the stomach witch adds gastric fluids to the food
to help break it down on a more sub-atomic level.
After the stomach come the gizzard, the gizzard is the grinder.  since birds have no teeth a
gizzard is necessary to break down large parts of food.
Then comes the intestines.  The intestines serve the same purpose as ours do.  They absorb
the nutrients into the bloodstream.
The finally place is the cloaca.  There the liquid and the solid wastes combine.  That is where
the wastes come out from the bird.
A bird's digestive system is fast.  A bird goes through this process in approximately twelve
minuets!  It is necessary for a bird to have a fast digestive system to keep the body clear of any
unnecessary waste during flight.

Here you can see all the systems.
