Notes and Queries

The mean-spirited editor of the Wabuska Mangler has taken us to task for entering "an already crowded affray." He accuses us of horning in on his territory. "There's not enough room for the two of us in this outback," he thundered in an editorial broadside directed at our backsides. "Great Basin News is supernumerary, if not super-fluous, not to mention supercilious," he sputtered in a fit of alliteration that taxed his literary limits. "We don't need lilylivered outsiders sticking their greentinged, posysniffing noses in our business, telling us how to run our cows, dig our mines, and live our lives. Worst of all, the so-called news in this magazine is likely to attract more of its ilk to the Great Basin." Fair-minded readers, the only reply we can make to such scurrilous attacks is to keep doing our work and let you be the judges.
